Optical fiber transceivers (commonly known as photoelectric converters) are the conversion between the electrical interface of 10/100M Ethernet and the optical interface. Optical fiber transceivers extend the transmission distance of Ethernet from 100 meters of twisted pair to 2 kilometers (multimode fiber) or 120 kilometers (single mode fiber). Optical fiber transceivers are generally used in pairs.
Because the maximum transmission distance of the network cable (twisted pair) we often use has great limitations, the maximum transmission distance of the general twisted pair is 100 meters. Therefore, when we arrange a larger network, we have to use relay equipment. Of course, other types of lines are used for transmission. Optical fiber is a good choice. The transmission distance of optical fiber is very long. Generally speaking, the transmission distance of single-mode optical fiber is more than 10 kilometers, while the transmission distance of multi-mode optical fiber can reach up to 2 kilometers.
When using fiber optics, we often use fiber optic transceivers: the effect of fiber optic transceivers is the mutual conversion between optical signals and electrical signals. Input optical signals from the optical port, output electrical signals from the electrical port (common RJ45 crystal head interface), and vice versa. The process is approximately as follows: convert electrical signals into optical signals, send them out through the fiber optic, and then convert the optical signals into electrical signals at the other end, and then connect them to routers, communicators, and other equipment.
For example, the fiber optic transceiver (which may be other equipment: fiber optic communication) in the computer room of the operator (telecom, mobile, China Unicom) and the fiber optic transceiver on your side are interconnected through fiber optics, so that the network at both ends can be connected. If you want to use fiber optic transceivers to form your own local area network, you must use them in pairs.
General fiber optic transceivers are the same as general communicators. They can be used after being plugged in. They do not need to be equipped with any equipment. Optical fiber plugging port, RJ45 crystal head plugging port.
However, it is necessary to pay attention to the transceiver of optical fibers. One by one, you cannot communicate with each other. If the single-fiber transceiver has only one optical fiber port that can be plugged in, and there is no choice, it is even simpler. It is suitable for high-performance and high-reliability network environments such as telecommunications, broadcasting, broadband networks, and millions of high-resolution video surveillance.
